Qin Dynasty Short Story
The Hungry Noble
One day a hungry noble was walking down a path at sunrise, when he came upon an apple tree. Underneath the apple tree was a peasant. The peasant said, “Good day kind sir would you like to try an apple?” The noble with a look of disgust on his face retorted, “Why would I a noble, accept food from a peasant like you?” The peasant looked back at him and said,” These could be the best apples in the world, but you would never know.” The noble turned and continued on his path. After a while, he became super hungry. He thought to himself, “Why not turn back and get some apples from that peasant?” So he turned back and found the peasant sitting under a tree. The noble asked, “Where have all the apples gone?” The peasant answered, “They have all become rotten and inedible.” So the noble continued on his path and perished from hunger on the second day.
Moral- Get what you get, and don’t throw a fit.
